Core Problem

ColdLogic is proud to be the "Not your average warehouse" to work with. Some of their efforts to hire and retain talent are the best in British Columbia. Even with this, their Human Resources processes were paperwork driven, this created internal miscomunication which often led to turnarounds. Originally the company build an internal network to relief some of the pains that this miscommunication created. This was more of a workaround the core problem.

With the My Coldlogic Portal, and in collaboration with all staff levels, these problems were greatly addressed.

The Process

It all started with a management meeting to understand the vision of this product and the core problem it solved.

After this meeting, I proceed to interview all staff levels (from warehouse personnel to supervisors), with an employee sample ( around 15% of employees) I drafted a quick prototype, then a strategy on how to achieve management's vision.

It took around 110 iterations in between sketches, user research and user feedbacks based on prototypes to get this product released on Version 1.

Project Brief

After the success of ApparelCamp 2016, I approached the founders to see how I could help going further.
This is a free event that heavily depends on sponsors and donors to run. The potential sponsors couldn't understand what their return on investment could be or the social impact that an event like this, the founders had to send a sponsor package.
At the same time, other stakeholders couldn't find themselves to propose topics, volunteer or simply attend to the event.

Project Objectives

A re-design for the ApparelCamp website for all stakeholders involved (Sponsors, Volunteers, Session Experts & Attendees).

Secondary Objectives:

  • Show the event's calendar updated with the sessions, in a way that is accessible to all attendees.
  • A "One stop like" feeling to quickly understand what ApparelCamp is all about.

Fun Fact: I was a product developer for the apparel and soft goods industry before

Results

After a complete re-design According to the organizations' founders, getting sponsorship was a breeze! All they had to do is send an email with the link to the website and it will explain everything that they need to know.

The goal of funding on 2017 was achieved sooner than expected and founders had to limit sponsorship because it reached the limit.

Looking forward to assisting this non-profit in 2018.

Putting together a free conference for the apparel industry has been an endless journey into the unknown. Not the least of which was creating and maintaining an online presence.
Luis presented our message with great function and design and a no stress ease to all the maintenance and upkeep.

Coldlogic corporate website

Client: ColdLogic, a logistics provider for Sobeys

ColdLogic was founded October 1, 2010, as division of Americold a dedicated 3rd party service provider for Safeway Canada. Our original purpose was to provide exceptional service to each customer within the Safeway organization and stores within British Columbia.

This purpose and commitment extended to Sobeys upon their purchase of the Safeway Canada organization in 2013.

Roles in the project:

Lead Designer | User Research | Product Manager

Project Brief

Coldlogic was looking for new ways to recruit talent, as the recruiting fairs, job postings and referral programs could only do so much.

At the same time, when an interviewer asked a potential associate “what have you heard about us?” the interviewee would normally answer “Well, I’ve tried to look for information about the company, but your website is under construction”. The ColdLogic website has been under construction for a while at that moment. As a result, the interviewer could not assess if the candidate was interested in a career with the company or just looking for a temporal position.

Project Objectives

Design and develop a corporate website selling the benefits of working and developing a career with ColdLogic.

Secondary Objectives:

  • Increase the number of applicants per opening position on the company.
  • Communicate hours of operations and facility address to transportation providers.

Important fact: Although ColdLogic is a logistics provider, ColdLogic responsive on Iphone 5 Vthey are proudly serving one customer, which means that despite the general “Sell more” type of corporate websites, this one serves the purpose of recruitment only.

Results

The original hypothesis was that website visitors would prepare better for interviews and that quality of applicants would increase. The number of quality applicants not only increased but results showed more applicants that were willing to work there, setting ColdLogic apart from being “Just another warehouse”.

Not only the quality of applicants started to arise. But by reducing roadblocks and steps to apply, the number of applicants equally rose.
